Former Abia State Governor and Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has appealed to the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors’ Forum and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to end their ongoing disagreement and work together for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election.
Kalu made the appeal on Friday in a video posted on his verified Facebook page while reacting to the disagreement between the APC governors and Wike over the emergence of alternative candidates in some states ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He acknowledged that the governors had legitimate concerns about attempts to sponsor alternative candidates against them in their respective states.
He urged both sides to put aside their differences, stressing that the APC needs the support of both the governors and Wike to achieve its political objectives.
According to him, “Some governors have a very good case. I cannot be a governor and you are sponsoring an alternative candidate in my state. I will not allow that to happen.
“I appeal to the governors and Minister Wike, who also used to be a governor. We should not quarrel at this time of our campaign. We should go back to the grassroots. The campaign is not done in Abuja; the campaign is done in the hinterland.
“Both parties should pull their swords back. We need the Governors’ Forum very well, and we also need Minister Wike very well. We need all parties in this business. There is nobody to be counted out.
“The politicians have so much trivialised leadership that people are just interested in leadership for what they can get the ego, the position not the change in the lives of the people.
“The people should focus on developing the economy. The money is coming today; the money might not come tomorrow. We should invest. We should go back to production.
“What is necessary today is for them to ameliorate the suffering of the Nigerian people and move the country forward, which is what President Tinubu himself is preaching.
“Let all parties come back together. Let us fight for Tinubu because we need to fight to win the election,” he said.
