The Senate has confirmed the appointment of two commissioners for the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) following their nomination by President Bola Tinubu.
The confirmation followed the adoption of a report by the Senate Committee on Power, which screened the nominees.
The confirmed commissioners are Aisha Mahmud Kanti Bello, who was re-appointed for a second term, and Animashaun Fouad Olayinka, who is serving on a fresh appointment.
Their confirmation is expected to strengthen the regulatory capacity of the power sector as the government pushes for improved electricity supply nationwide.
