Security guard arrested for alleged defilement of 16 year old in Ogun

Operatives of the Agbado Division of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 32 year old security guard, Abraham Aneka, for the alleged defilement of a 16 year old girl at Abule-Ijoko in Ogun State, recovering a locally made single barrel firearm reportedly used to threaten the teenage victim.

‎The incident, which occurred on the night of June 9 was reported to the Agbado Division in the early hours of June 10 by a family member of the victim.

‎According to the police, the teenage girl was on her way home when the suspect allegedly threaten her with the gun and forcefuly took her to his residence at Abule-Ijoko, where he allegedly took advantage of her after which he also allegedly attempted to rob her of her belongings.

‎Acting swiftly on the complaint, detectives launched a coordinated intelligence-backed response that led to the prompt arrest of the suspect with the firearm recovered.

‎According to the police the scene of the crime was visited as part of ongoing investigative procedures with the victim issued a medical form and taken to a hospital for medical examination and treatment following the incident.

‎The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) at Eleweran, Abeokuta, for comprehensive investigation while the suspect remains in custody pending the conclusion of investigations and subsequent prosecution.

‎The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, while condemning the incident, reiterated the Command’s zero tolerance for sexual and gender-based violence, particularly offences targeting minors, and assured residents of diligent prosecution in accordance with the law.

‎CP Ojajuni also urged parents, guardians, and members of the public to remain vigilant and report cases of abuse, violence, or suspicious activity to the nearest police formation without delay, assuring that all reports would be treated with urgency and professionalism.
