Security operatives have rescued 12 kidnapped victims during a joint operation in Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State early Thursday morning.
Sources said troops working with local vigilantes stormed a suspected bandit hideout after receiving intelligence reports from residents. Several kidnappers fled during the operation while weapons and motorcycles were recovered.
Officials confirmed that the rescued victims, including women and children, have been taken to a medical centre for treatment and counselling.
Community leaders praised security agencies for the swift response, saying bandits had recently increased attacks on villages along forest routes connecting Kaduna State and Niger State.
Authorities assured residents that patrols would be intensified to prevent further kidnappings and protect farmers as the planting season approaches
