The Akwa Ibom State Government has taken a significant step toward the realization of the Ibom Deep Seaport by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Interaf Group Consortium.
Governor Umo Eno, speaking during the signing ceremony at the Government House, Uyo, on Tuesday, reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to delivering the project, describing it as critical infrastructure that will transform the economic fortunes of the state and the region.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, Governor Eno emphasized the project’s necessity.
“The project is a necessity for the people of the state; my administration is fully committed to putting the necessary requirements in place to get it on course,” the Governor stated.
He urged the consortium to work closely with the Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP) and government representatives to ensure timely execution.
Governor Eno also commended former Minister of Petroleum, Mr. Don Etiebet, for his role in the team working toward the facility’s actualization.
In his remarks, the Chairman and CEO of Interaf Group Consortium, Mr. Ezinwa Ibekwe, thanked the state government for the confidence reposed in the company.
He assured the Governor of the consortium’s readiness to deliver on its mandate through a collaborative approach to ensure the project’s success.
