The Ogun State Police Command has deployed its School Protection Squad across the state as schools resume academic activities, with other institutions scheduled to reopen in phases.
The tactical deployment aims to bolster police visibility around educational institutions, safeguard pupils, teachers, and non-academic staff, secure learning infrastructure, gather actionable intelligence, and guarantee rapid tactical response to emerging security threats.
To consolidate the initiative, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, received an executive delegation of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Safe School Club, led by its State Chairman, Comrade Abdullahi Babatunde Lawal, at the Command Headquarters in Abeokuta.
The strategic engagement focused on enhancing multi-stakeholder collaboration among police operatives, school administrators, parents, students, and host communities for the early detection, swift reporting, and effective prevention of vulnerabilities within and around school premises.
Commending the partnership, CP Ojajuni directed personnel of the School Protection Squad to maintain high operational vigilance, foster consistent engagement with host communities, and act decisively on credible intelligence.
He reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to pre-empt security threats and intervene swiftly whenever necessary, while charging school proprietors, administrators, educators, parents, and members of the public to remain security-conscious.
Emphasising the vital role of public vigilance, the Command urged citizens to adhere strictly to the “See Something, Say Something” principle by immediately reporting suspicious individuals, unfamiliar vehicles, unusual movements, or concerning activities around academic facilities, noting that timely information remains vital to averting security breaches.
The Command assuredthe public that its dedicated squad, operating alongside the PCRC and other security partners, remains on high alert to preserve a safe learning environment across the state.
