Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Saturday monitored the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Primary Election at Ward L2, Ikoyi II, describing the exercise as peaceful, orderly, and reflective of internal democracy within the party.

The primary election, held at Ireti Nursery and Primary School on Mekwen Street, Ikoyi, attracted party leaders, stakeholders, and members who turned out in large numbers to participate in the exercise.

Speaking with journalists at the venue, Sanwo-Olu explained that although the ward was not his designated voting unit, he was present in his capacity as a returning officer to oversee and observe the process.

“This is not my ward, but I’m the returning officer at the end of the day, so I also have to observe what is going on here. That’s why we’re here. All of the leaders of the ward are also here,” the governor stated.

Security was visibly tightened around the venue, with party members subjected to screening and accreditation before being granted access to the voting area.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu also participated in the exercise alongside the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, as party faithful gathered to monitor the process.

At the end of voting in Ward L2, Ikoyi II, President Tinubu emerged victorious after polling the majority of the votes cast in the exercise.

Several APC leaders and stakeholders, including members of the Lagos State APC executive, were also present to monitor the process.
