Sanwo-Olu courts global investors at commonwealth summit

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwoolu, has called on global investors to partner with Lagos, declaring the state’s readiness to drive Africa’s economic future through strategic infrastructure, technology, and people-focused development.

Speaking at the opening session of the Commonwealth Trade and Investment Summit the governor emphasised that the greatest strength of the country lies in its people, stressing that Africa must play a central role in shaping its future.

Sanwo-Olu noted that since his re-election in 2023, his administration has remained committed to improving the quality of life for over 24 million residents of through deliberate and impactful policies.

He highlighted key milestones, including the launch of the Lagos metro rail system with the Blue and Red Lines, aimed at easing transportation challenges and boosting economic productivity disclosing that the state is nearing completion of one of the largest children’s hospitals on the African continent, a move expected to strengthen healthcare delivery.

In addition, he said the government is digitising land administration and revenue systems to enhance transparency and simplify the ease of doing business in the state.

“Across infrastructure, healthcare, and technology, we are creating real opportunities and working with partners who are ready to grow with us,” Sanwo-Olu said.

The governor further announced that Lagos will host the third edition of “Invest in Lagos 3.0” in June, saying the event will serve as a platform for facilitating tangible investments and bankable deals.

He reiterated that Lagos remains open to partnerships with investors who bring innovation, expertise, and a long-term vision, noting that the state is building with clear intent and positioning itself as a prime destination for sustainable growth.

Sanwo-Olu concluded that the opportunities in Lagos are vast and compelling, urging stakeholders across the Commonwealth to take advantage of the state’s evolving economic landscape.
