Governor Sanwo-Olu has approved the appointment of Dr. Victoria Egunjobi as the new Executive Secretary of the (HEFAMAA), in a move aimed at strengthening healthcare regulation and quality assurance across the state.
The appointment, which takes effect from April 13, 2026, was conveyed in a letter dated April 10, 2026, and signed by the Lagos State Head of Service, , on behalf of the governor.
According to the letter, the state government expects the appointee to demonstrate a high level of dedication, diligence, and selflessness in the discharge of her duties, in line with the confidence reposed in her office.
Dr. Egunjobi, a seasoned public health physician, brings over two decades of experience in the Lagos State Public Service. Her expertise spans data management, malaria control, maternal and child health, family planning, and gender-based violence, with a strong focus on strengthening health systems.
Prior to her appointment, she served as Director of Disease Control at the Lagos State Ministry of Health, where she coordinated interventions targeting both communicable and non-communicable diseases, contributing significantly to improved public health outcomes.
Over the years, she has held several strategic roles within the ministry, including Health Management Information System Officer, Knowledge Management Focal Person, Secretary of the Health Research Committee, Verification Officer for the State’s Births and Deaths Registry, and Medical Officer in the Planning Division. She also served as Reproductive Health Coordinator, overseeing programmes such as Safe Motherhood, Family Planning, and responses to sexual and gender-based violence.
Dr. Egunjobi holds degrees in Physiology, Medicine and Surgery, as well as a Master’s in Public Health. She also obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Health Economics.
The appointment is expected to further strengthen regulatory oversight and improve standards across health facilities in Lagos State.
