The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has concluded its review of the remuneration package for political and public office holders and submitted its recommendations to President Bola Tinubu for consideration.
The commission disclosed this on Wednesday in a statement issued by its Head of the Information and Public Relations Unit, Maryam Yusuf, following a courtesy visit by members of the Council of Retired Permanent Secretaries to the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
According to the statement, the Chairman of the RMAFC, Mohammed Shehu, said the commission remained committed to ensuring that requests relating to the remuneration of political and public office holders received fair and objective consideration.
Shehu made the disclosure while receiving a delegation of the Council of Retired Permanent Secretaries led by its National Vice Chairman, Akin Arikawe.
The RMAFC chairman praised the retired permanent secretaries for their contributions to national development and public service, describing them as a vital source of experience and institutional knowledge.
Providing an update on the commission’s work, Shehu revealed that the review process had been completed and that the recommendations had already been transmitted to the President.
He stated that a substantial part of the issues canvassed by the retired Permanent Secretaries has been captured and forwarded to President Bola Tinubu for consideration.
He assured the delegation that the commission had carefully considered their concerns within its constitutional mandate and remained supportive of efforts aimed at improving the welfare of retired public servants.
Earlier, Arikawe said the visit was intended to strengthen collaboration with the commission and acknowledge its efforts in addressing issues affecting retired permanent secretaries.
Federal Commissioners representing Kwara and Kebbi states, Ismail Agaka and Rakiya Haruna, respectively, described members of the council as distinguished administrators whose contributions had helped shape Nigeria’s governance and economic policies, encouraging the retired officials to continue mentoring younger public servants.
