The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (Rtd.) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, CFR, has summoned the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, and his Deputy, Dr. Ngozi Ordu, to appear before him for a formal inquiry into the appointments made during their administration.

A statement issued by Prof. Ibibia Lucky Worika, the Secretary to the State Government, confirmed the development and was shared with journalists. According to the statement, the inquiry will thoroughly examine the procedures, justifications, and records concerning key appointments made under the Fubara-led government over the past two years.

Fubara has been directed to submit all relevant documentation and offer a detailed explanation for the appointments. The inquiry will also provide an opportunity for the suspended governor to present a case for his reinstatement to office.

“Sir Fubara is required to present all pertinent documents and records related to the appointments, including justifications and the procedures followed during his tenure. The session will also serve as a platform for the suspended Governor to give a clear and detailed account of why he believes he should be reinstated,” the statement read.

Both Fubara and Dr. Ordu are expected to appear in person at the Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt on Friday, April 18, 2025, at 10:00 am sharp. The inquiry is mandatory for both individuals.

The Sole Administrator described this inquiry as part of the “ongoing efforts to restore transparency, accountability, and lasting peace in the governance of Rivers State.”

The move signals a critical juncture in the unfolding political crisis in the state, which followed the suspension of Fubara’s administration.
