The Managing Director/CEO of the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO), Engr. Abdu Bello Mohammed, on Thursday, April 9, received members of the House of Representatives Committee on Power Sector Reforms and Expenditure at the National Control Centre (NCC) in Osogbo.

He was joined by the Executive Director, System Operator, Engr. Ali Nafisatu Asabe, and the Executive Director, Finance and Corporate Services, Mr. Babajide Ibironke.

Speaking during the visit, Mohammed reaffirmed NISO’s commitment to improving grid stability through ongoing reforms. He disclosed that the organisation is advancing efforts to digitise and decentralise the national grid into interconnected segments to reduce the impact of system collapse.

He explained that the reforms, alongside grid alignment and system protection coordination, are designed to ensure that disruptions in one segment do not trigger nationwide outages.

Mohammed also highlighted ongoing modernization initiatives, including real-time monitoring, automation, and the deployment of IoT and SCADA/EMS systems to boost operational efficiency.

The Committee, led by Hon. Ibrahim Almustapha, commended NISO’s efforts and urged the operator to sustain its reforms toward a more stable and reliable power sector.
