The Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF) has appealed to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to resolve its grievances with the Federal Government through dialogue, stressing that prolonged disputes only harm the future of Nigerian students.
The call was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the Forum’s two-day meeting, read by its Chairman and Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma.
Uzodimma urged the union to consider the national interest and the welfare of students by opting for peaceful engagement rather than confrontation.
The governors also resolved to intensify efforts toward economic diversification and rural development, pledging stronger collaboration with the Federal Government to boost domestic production and food security.
Reaffirming their backing for community policing, the PGF expressed sympathy for citizens affected by insecurity and promised continued support for victims and their families.
The Forum commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, noting what it described as “significant progress” in economic recovery, national security, and a reported decline in inflation.
According to Uzodimma, “President Tinubu has strengthened national unity and is providing progressive leadership across all regions.”
The governors also welcomed the newly appointed APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, and pledged their full support for his leadership.
