President Donald Trump has dismissed warnings from Tehran regarding a potential ground invasion, stating that deploying American ground troops into Iran would currently be a “waste of time”.
In a telephone interview with NBC News, Pres. Trump asserted that Iran has already suffered catastrophic military and strategic losses during the ongoing conflict. He claimed the Islamic Republic’s military capabilities have been largely dismantled by sustained American pressure.
“They’ve lost everything. They’ve lost their Navy. They’ve lost everything they can lose,” Pres. Trump said during the interview.
The U.S. leader also brushed aside recent comments made by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who warned that any move to deploy invading forces would be “disastrous” for the United States or Israel.
Araghchi had earlier claimed that Iran remained fully prepared to repel a potential ground invasion, but President Trump suggested such rhetoric did not align with the current reality on the ground.
Beyond the immediate military situation, President Trump hinted that Washington intends to play an active role in shaping Iran’s future leadership.
Following the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei amidst the conflict, the President indicated that the U.S. is looking toward a transition in the country’s governance structure.
The President’s remarks come at a time of peak tension in the region, with the U.S. maintaining that its current strategy has already achieved significant objectives without the need for a full-scale ground war.
As the conflict continues to reshape the Middle East, the White House appears focused on leveraging Iran’s reported military depletion to influence a new political era in Tehran.
