The developmental landscape of Bayelsa State underwent a historic shift on Friday, April 10, 2026, as President Bola Tinubu arrived in the “Glory of all Lands” for a landmark one-day state visit.
The visit was defined by the inauguration of four “Legacy Projects” that signal an end to decades of geographical isolation for several Ijaw communities.
By commissioning the 42km Sagbama-Ekeremor road and the monumental 630-metre Angiama-Oporoma bridge, the administration has effectively bridged the gap between the hinterlands and the state capital. These engineering feats serve as lifelines for a new economic era, unlocking access to regions once considered unreachable.
In addition to the transport revolution, Pres. Tinubu inaugurated, the New Yenagoa City Road One: A 2.9km arterial link to the Airport Road, streamlining urban mobility. 60MW Gas Turbines Project: A leap toward energy independence, made possible by federal policy interventions and the state’s commitment to reliable power.
The atmosphere was one of unity, featuring a rare assembly of leadership. Pres. Tinubu was joined by former Pres. Goodluck Jonathan, Senate Pres. Godswill Akpabio, and a delegation of Governors to witness the milestone.
“This isn’t just a visit; it is the official opening of Bayelsa’s new economic corridors. These projects represent our shared journey toward a brighter, more prosperous future for every Bayelsan,” the President remarked.
As he departed, the echoes of “Nua!” and “Mbana!” from the crowds served as a resounding validation of a partnership delivering tangible results.
