Dr. Wole Oluyede, the winner of the Ekiti People’s Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial primary election held on Saturday has paid a courtesy visit to a fellow contestant, Mrs Theresa Funmi Ogun (OFT) while calling for unity in the state chapter of the party.
Oluyede accompanied by members of his team and party leaders visited Hon. Funmi Ogun on Monday as part of reconcilatory moves to unite members of the party.
Addressing the garthering, Dr. Wole Oluyede thanked the OFT team for hosting his team while praising Mrs Ogun for her maturity and sportmanship before, during and after the primary election.
“You are a Champion and a winner and i am not saying this to sweet talk things but your resilience and tenacity shows that you are a force to be reckoned with. You are builder, a bridge and your disposition to issues have proven that you are a woman of integrity and as such i am making it very clear that i am now part of your family and we will work together to rescue this state from the hands of these set of people who knows nothing next to governance,” he said.
Dr. Oluyede while appealing to other members of the party to emulate Mrs Ogun said all teams should work for the success of the party and dislodge the All Progressives Congress in the guber polls.
Mrs Funmi Ogun in her words, expressed her commitment to continue to work in the interest of the party and called on Dr. Wole Oluyede to be magnanimous in victory noting that it is only when the party wins the election that all members can benefit.
“On behalf of the OFT team, i want to thank Dr. Wole Oluyede for coming to us, It shows the party is well repositioned to take the mantle away from the APC. The Peoples Democratic Party is a party established on grassroots governance and as you can see i am all for the good interest of the party. I will not go to court to challenge the results of the primary and Dr. Oluyede has spoken well to carry everybody along which i also trust him to deliver on the promises he made to the party and Ekiti people at large,” She remarked.
She noted that the mission to win the 2026 guber election is paramount and she will stay in the party and support the flagbearer of the party to record a landslide victory.
Meanwhile, Dr. Oluyede has called on political distractors to leave the Chief Of Army Staff, General Oluyemi Oluyede out of his political ambitions stating he was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu based on competence and not political influence.
According to him, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a good leader who priortizes security above personal interest and is well aware that General Oluyede is related to him.
“I am asking these political rascals to leave my brother to face the job he has been appointed and let him focus on his job. You can’t see me going around with soldiers to harrass anybody, yes Femi is my brother and i am sure they must have informed the president that he has a brother contesting in the opposition party and i know them very well in Ekiti APC.”
“I have been in this race before he was appointed and as a person he dislikes politics and does not discuss it because he narrowly escaped with his life in the political upheaval of 1983 so only ignorant people will say his position will affect my ambition,” he noted.
