Following his victory at the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primaries, Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas has initiated a reconciliation process aimed at healing internal divisions within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The governor who hosted a reconciliation dinner with key APC stakeholders and aggrieved party members at the Government House on Tuesday preached unity and peace.

Recall that party chieftains and aspirants had publicly alleged irregularities, claiming they were marginalized or excluded from the processes for the May 2026 congresses and primary elections.

Addressing the stakeholders, Governor Kefas described the gathering as a family meeting, using the platform to formally apologize to members who felt hurt or overlooked during the party’s internal contests.

“During our engagement, I acknowledged that the recent congresses and primaries produced different outcomes. Some members felt hurt, overlooked, or excluded. I expressed sincere regret for any pain caused,” Governor Kefas stated on Wednesday.

The governor, who officially defected to the APC earlier this year, explained that the tough political decisions made during the primaries were not intended to suppress individual ambitions but to safeguard the party from severe factional divisions.

“Our goal was never to suppress ambition, but to protect the party and Taraba State from division,” he maintained.

Kefas expressed satisfaction with the positive outcome of the dinner, noting that the stakeholders unanimously resolved to bury their grievances and work together under “One Family” to secure victory for the APC in 2027.

Urging the stakeholders to rebuild trust, the governor said: “It was heartwarming to see everyone agree that we are ‘One Family’ and that we will work together to secure victory. Let us forgive one another, rebuild trust, and move forward without leaving anyone behind.”
