The Borno State Police Command has reaffirmed its resolve to intensify operations against insurgents following the burial of four officers killed during a foiled terrorist attack in the Nganzai Local Government Area.
The commitment was reiterated on April 5, 2026, in Maiduguri during the interment of Inspector Samuel Ezekiel (Nganzai Division), Inspector Sanusi Mohammed (58 Police Mobile Force, Lafiya), Police Constable Bitrus Luka, and Police Constable Shaibu Bukar (Crack Squad BRS).
The burial ceremonies, held at the Kawar Maila and Maximum Security Prison burial grounds, brought together senior police officers, families of the deceased, and sympathizers.
The event highlighted both the human cost of the conflict and the continued sacrifices made by security personnel in the state.
The Borno Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, represented at the ceremony alongside the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, ACP Jawi A. Mohammed and other top officials, underscored the Command’s determination to ensure that the officers’ deaths were not in vain.
Religious leaders from the Command Chaplaincies, CSP Bukar M. Gajibo (Imam) and CSP Theophilus Mutum (Chaplain) led prayers for the fallen officers, seeking divine mercy for their souls and strength for their grieving families.
The Command described the deceased as dedicated officers who stood their ground in the face of danger, emphasizing that their bravery prevented further casualties during the attack.
