The Police Command in Oyo State has said it is on the trail of the abductors of Mrs. Adetutu Aderibigbe, who was kidnapped at her residence on Wednesday in Ibadan.

In a statement made available to newsmen on Friday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, dismissed reports suggesting the victim was kidnapped in the Challenge area of Ibadan as untrue.

According to him, Aderibigbe was abducted by four armed men wearing masks at the entrance of her residence at Bolumole, off Ring Road, at 6:00 p.m. Findings indicate that the armed men trailed the victim to her residence and accosted her at the gate while she was attempting to enter her premises.

The victim was forcefully taken away in an unregistered black Lexus vehicle, while a family member present at the scene was left unharmed. DSP Olayinka stated that the Police, once alerted, promptly passed the information to the Control Room and escalated the matter to relevant tactical units.

“Detectives were swiftly deployed to the scene for on-the-spot assessment. Surveillance and intelligence efforts have also been intensified to track down the perpetrators and ensure the safe rescue of the victim,” Olayinka said.

He assured the public that the command has deployed all necessary resources to secure the victim’s release and apprehend those responsible for the act.
