The Abia State Police Command has dismantled several criminal camps and arrested four suspects during a targeted operation along the Utu/Isuikwuato axis of the state.
In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Maureen Chinaka, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, the raid followed reports of armed robbery and persistent attacks on students of Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu, and surrounding residents.
The statement revealed that on July 16, 2025, officers from the Uturu Divisional Police Headquarters, working in collaboration with local residents and led by the Divisional Police Officer, tracked the suspects to their hideout and successfully arrested four individuals: Jerry Chisom, Tochukwu Ugula, Chinonso Nwankwo, and Kingsley Onyekeba.
Exhibits recovered from the hideout include a locally made pistol, a knife, an iPhone 7 Plus, an Infinix phone, and a laptop computer.
The Police also confirmed the discovery and destruction of additional criminal camps along the Uturu/Isuikwuato corridor, vowing to sustain the crackdown on criminal activities in the area.
Residents have been encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity through the Command’s emergency hotlines as the Police intensify efforts to ensure public safety across the state.
