The Osun State Police Command has apprehended four individuals in connection with a threatening wall inscription that triggered widespread fear in the Ila-Orangun area.

The suspects, identified as Idris Abubakar, 16; Ahmed Abubakar, 19; Mohammed Omotayo, 16; and an adult, Abubakar Audu, face allegations of conspiracy and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.

The tension began on February 18, 2026 when the chilling phrase “Bandit Today Today” appeared on a wall in the Ajegunle quarters of Ila-Orangun.

According to a statement released on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the graffiti sparked immediate panic, leading some residents to flee their homes in anticipation of a violent raid.

Responding to the threat, operatives from the State Intelligence Department (SID) launched a forensic analysis of the situation, leading to the arrest of the four residents.

During preliminary interrogations, the youngest suspect, 16-year-old Idris Abubakar, reportedly confessed to writing the message.

He claimed the act was a result of ignorance rather than a genuine criminal plot.

DSP Ojelabi emphasized that the arrests were part of the Command’s proactive strategy to nip potential security breaches in the bud.

While urging residents to remain calm and go about their lawful businesses, the police warned the public against any actions capable of inciting apprehension.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the long-standing peace for which Osun State is known.
