The Kwara State Police Command has launched an investigation into the killing of a farmer, Mr. Azeez Garba, whose lifeless body was discovered on his farmland along the Owa-Onire axis, the boundary between Isanlu-Isin and Owu-Isin in Isin Local Government Area of the state.

Reacting, the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, condemned the killing, describing it as cruel, senseless and unacceptable.

The Police Chief further directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to deploy all available investigative and intelligence resources to identify, track and arrest those responsible.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased had gone to his farm in the morning but did not return home, prompting his family members and local vigilantes to organise a search.

The statement disclosed that Garba’s motorcycle was later found parked on the farm, while his body was discovered a short distance away bearing deep machete wounds.

The command said no arrest had been made as of the time of filing the report but assured the bereaved family and residents of Isin Local Government Area that every available lead was being pursued.

“The investigators are working assiduously to unravel the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident and ensure that all those connected with this heinous crime are identified and brought to justice,” the statement read.

The Police further reaffirmed their commitment to protecting lives and property across the state, assuring residents that efforts would continue until those behind the murder are apprehended and prosecuted.
