…as search intensifies for abducted victims in Enugu
The Nigeria Police Force has reported significant operational breakthroughs across multiple states, highlighted by a successful rescue and foiled abduction in Katsina State, alongside an ongoing manhunt following a kidnapping incident in Enugu State.
According to the state-by-state operational summary released by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, tactical operatives in Katsina State successfully thwarted an attempted kidnapping operation at Sabon Gari Maikomo Village on September 25, 2026.
Responding swiftly to distress signals, police operatives and tactical teams engaged the suspected bandits in an intense gun duel, ultimately overpowering the criminals and forcing them to flee into the surrounding bush.
One victim, who sustained injuries during the encounter, was promptly evacuated to the General Hospital for urgent medical treatment.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Katsina for discreet investigation and a follow-up manhunt for the fleeing suspects.
Meanwhile, security forces have ramped up rescue efforts in Enugu State following the abduction of a female victim on September 26, 2026.
Operatives of the Force’s Vehicle Control and Rescue Unit (VCRU) were immediately deployed to the scene upon receiving reports of the incident.
Concerted tracking and aggressive bush-combing operations are currently underway to rescue the victim unharmed and apprehend the perpetrators. The investigation has similarly been handed over to the SCID in Enugu.
