Operatives from the Ogun State Police Command have disrupted a suspected cult initiation assembly in Isara-Remo, resulting in the apprehension of thirty male suspects and the recovery of multiple vehicles and items used during the gathering.
The raid was executed by the Violent Crime Response Unit in partnership with detectives attached to the Isara Area Command and the Isara Division.
The operation took place during the afternoon of June 16, 2026, after law enforcement received verified intelligence that a group of individuals had gathered at an unfinished building structure in Isara-Remo.
The group was reportedly using the location for an illicit meeting that included chanting, drinking alcohol, and conducting initiation rituals.
Upon receiving the report, a combined tactical team advanced on the location, successfully scattering the assembly and taking thirty individuals into custody.
Among those arrested are Muiz Olawale, Adeniji Akinwale, Ajayi Victor, Damilola Oluwasegun, Adewale Olayemi, Aminu Rahmon, Olodudu Ademola, Matthew Imoleayo, Adenle Habeb, Lekan Qudus, Olamilekan Ayanleke, Adegbasa Ezekiel, Ibukun Adeniyi, Abiodun Babatunde, Oshofolahan Michael, Salau Adedeji, Benjamin Kehinde, Magnus Elijah, Oluwadamilare Samson, Oyebowale Ojutona, Abiodun Makanjuola, Idowu Toheeb, Olamide Sunday, Malik Also, Abdullahi Damilola, Israel Ayomikun, Oyeledun Ezekiel, Adelabu Imoleayo, Ajayi Oluwasegun, and Olaawun Faith.
Fleeing suspects abandoned four vehicles at the scene, which were subsequently confiscated by the police. Operatives also recovered several items from the site, including a jackknife, a traditional drum, a native rattle known as a sekere, and empty bottles left over from the illegal assembly.
The suspects have been moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Abeokuta for further profiling and interrogation.
The Police confirmed that formal charges will be filed in court once investigations are finalized, while search operations remain active to track down the remaining individuals who escaped the raid.
Reacting, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, praised the tactical team’s execution of the operation, noting that it highlights the command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing and its absolute intolerance for gang activity and violent crime.
He further emphasized that the state would not tolerate cultism in any form and urged citizens to report any unusual or suspicious gatherings to local police stations immediately.
