The Nigeria Police Force has declared one Mrs. Ojiebun Edith Aderemi, a 49-year-old woman from Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, wanted over alleged involvement with the Biafra Liberation Army in Abia State.
According to a bulletin issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), State Police Headquarters, Abia State, the suspect is being sought in connection with an ongoing investigation into the activities of the proscribed group.
The police said Ojiebun, a medical personnel by profession, allegedly travelled to Aba to purchase goods but was reportedly abducted by members of the Biafra Liberation Army, who later engaged her services to treat injured fighters.
The bulletin added that during a police raid on the group’s hideout, several suspects fled, while one member of the militia was apprehended.
Upon interrogation, police recovered Ojiebun’s mobile phone from the arrested suspect, prompting further investigation that led to her being declared wanted.
She was officially declared wanted on June 19, 2023, alongside other suspects identified as Kelechi Chukwudi, Friday Eluma, Christian Ebuga, Obinna Chemwe, and Andrew Chukwudifu.
The police described Mrs. Aderemi as 49 years old, Igarra by tribe, 1.5 metres tall, of light complexion, with white eyes and a wide nose. Her last known address was 10, Oluku Street, Benin City, Edo State.
