1 Oct 2025

A 46-year-old Collins Ovbiebo has been declared wanted by the Edo State Police Command after he was invited but failed to show up over his alleged involvement in a same-sex affair.

In a statement released to journalists, ACP Kolawole A. Kazeem of the Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, speaking on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, said Collins Ovbiebo is wanted for violating the Same-Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act of 2013 and Section 214 of the Federal Criminal Code. Offenders under the law face up to 14 years in prison.

The statement added that Collins Ovbiebo was formally invited by the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), located at No. 27 Emotan Street, Off Saint Saviour Road, Ikpoba Okha LGA, Benin City to appear on April 18, 2025, to explain what he knows after Intelligence reports linked him to one Mr. Lucky Adaze, but he failed to comply.

The letter, signed by officers of the General Investigation Department, warned that failure to respond would result in his being declared wanted and a nationwide surveillance mounted for his arrest.

The Police Command said surveillance has been extended to Lagos, Abuja, and Edo State to track him down. A monetary reward has also been offered for information leading to his arrest.

As of press time, Collins Ovbiebo’s whereabouts remain unknown. The Police urged anyone with credible information to come forward.
