Police arrest man with human head

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have apprehended a 43-year-old Idowu Ashafa for allegedly possessing human body parts believed to be for ritual purposes.

The arrest happened in the early hours of Friday in Igbesa during a routine patrol by officers from the local division.

The operation according to the Police was led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Solotan K. Owolabi.

According to the Ogun state Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday, the suspect was stopped with a nylon bag containing a freshly severed human head, two human palms, and other dismembered remains.

Preliminary investigations indicate Ashafa allegedly exhumed the body parts from a grave in Ido Itekun Village, Igbesa.

The equipments used for the exhumation has also been recovered and officers have visited and documented the scene.

Babaseyi said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and possible prosecution.

He further reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling crime across the state and urged residents to stay vigilant and report suspicious activity to security agencies promptly.
