The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 4 suspects and recovered 4 firearms alongside 17 cartridges in a series of intelligence-led operations across Mowe, Sagamu and Odeda areas of the state.

The operations, conducted between April 14 and April 18, were part of ongoing efforts to curb cultism, illegal possession of firearms and other violent crimes.

In Mowe, operatives attached to the division arrested a 36 year old suspect, Opeyemi Anuoluwapo, following credible intelligence from a member of the public about a suspicious individual around the Mowe Bus Stop which led to the recovery of a locally made single-barrel pistol, one expended cartridge and charms. The suspect reportedly confessed to being a member of the Eiye confraternity during interrogation.

Similarly, operatives of the Quick Response Squad (QRS) in Sagamu arrested 2 suspects in separate stop-and-search operations along the Sagamu/Ogijo Road.

In a related development, another suspect, Adedeji Olufemi, 49, was apprehended on April 18 at the same axis. He was found in possession of a locally made double-barrel gun with 8 cartridges.

In Odeda, police arrested a local vigilante member, Mutiu Sadiku, in connection with a shooting incident at the Sawmill area of Osiele. The incident, which occurred on April 18, reportedly involved the accidental discharge of a firearm, leaving three persons injured.

The victims were immediately taken to medical facilities and are said to be in stable condition, responding to treatment. The firearm used in the incident was recovered with the support of the Amotekun Corps.

All suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCIID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
