The Plateau State Government has expressed deep concern and issued a stern condemnation following a security incident in the Garga axis of Kanam Local Government Area.

Reports indicate that on Friday, March 13, 2026, armed bandits invaded the Kyaram community, unleashing mayhem and causing significant distress among residents of the area and neighboring settlements like Wanka and Gyambau.

In a statement released by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, the government lauded the gallantry of security personnel and local vigilantes who confronted the attackers.

The administration paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the line of duty, describing their sacrifice as a testament to their dedication to the safety of Plateau communities.

Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has since
directed an intensification of security measures.

The “Time is Now” administration is working in close coordination with the military and other security agencies to increase surveillance and reinforce a visible security presence, particularly in vulnerable border communities.

The government also revealed that it is engaging traditional rulers and local stakeholders in Kanam to strengthen community-led peace efforts and improve the flow of credible intelligence to security operatives.

While urging the public to remain calm and law-abiding, the state government cautioned citizens against spreading unverified information that could escalate fear or tension.

The administration reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property, ensuring that decisive steps are being taken to restore lasting peace across the general area.
