The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lost another member in the House of Representatives following the defection of Aliyu Misau, who represents Misau/Dambam Federal Constituency of Bauchi State, to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

Misau’s decision was formally announced on Wednesday through a letter addressed to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, and read during plenary.

In the letter, the lawmaker attributed his departure from the PDP to the party’s prolonged leadership crisis, which he said had made it difficult for him to effectively serve his constituents.

“I would like to thank the PDP for the opportunity given to me to serve the good people of Misau/Dambam Federal Constituency. The leadership crisis in the PDP has made it impossible for me to continue to represent my people and contribute to the development of the constituency,” he stated.

Misau’s defection comes shortly after four other members of the Bauchi caucus in the House of Representatives also left the PDP for the APM.

The development follows recent political changes in Bauchi State, including the move by Governor Bala Mohammed from the PDP to the APM. Since then, a number of political figures and party supporters in the state have reportedly aligned with the APM.

The PDP has in recent months faced internal disagreements at both national and state levels, leading to debates over the party’s leadership and future direction.

Meanwhile, the APM continues to attract new members in Bauchi State as political stakeholders reposition ahead of future electoral activities.

The latest defection adds to the ongoing political developments in the state and is expected to further shape discussions around party alignments and representation in the coming months.
