Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has officially commissioned a state-of-the-art dialysis centre at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Ado-Ekiti, describing the facility as a transformative boost to healthcare delivery across the state.
The new centre was made possible through the support of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and His Love Foundation, the charity arm of the church led by its General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, and his wife, Pastor Folu Adeboye. The donation includes three brand-new dialysis machines, matching dialysis chairs, a high-capacity water treatment unit, and a 50KVA generator.
Governor Oyebanji, joined by his wife, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, during the unveiling ceremony, praised the Adeboyes for their selfless commitment to humanity. He noted that the facility would significantly ease the burden on kidney patients who previously had to travel long distances to access dialysis services.
“This commissioning is more than a ceremonial event. It marks the beginning of a new chapter in accessible and quality healthcare for our people,” the governor stated. “Through this facility, we are witnessing the power of compassion and purposeful collaboration between government and faith-based organisations.”
He further affirmed that the centre would be fully staffed, well maintained, and open to all residents, regardless of background or status. He lauded the Adeboyes’ support as a “shining example of how the Church can actively contribute to nation-building.”
Dr Olayemi Oyebanji recounted the journey leading to the establishment of the dialysis centre. According to her, the project was first conceived following a visit to her office by RCCG women two years ago, prompting her to approach Pastor Adeboye for assistance—a request he graciously accepted.
“This facility is a gift that will save countless lives,” she said, expressing appreciation for the Adeboyes’ consistent generosity and empathy.
The state’s Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Oyebanji Filani, described health as “the most valuable currency,” explaining how the absence of affordable treatment robs people of their dignity.
He noted that the hospital had previously averaged 40 dialysis procedures monthly under significant strain, making the new facility a timely and essential intervention.
Dr Filani also acknowledged the Governor’s ongoing commitment to the health sector and recognised the invaluable role played by the Adeboyes and His Love Foundation in bolstering healthcare across the state. He extended special thanks to Dr Olayemi Oyebanji for her instrumental role in facilitating the project.
Chief Medical Director of EKSUTH, Professor Kolawole Olabanji, itemised the contributions from RCCG, which include the dialysis chairs and beds, the advanced water treatment unit, and the generator. He commended Governor Oyebanji for his personal involvement in hospital upgrades, including the renovation of several wards and staff welfare improvements.
Representing Pastor Enoch Adeboye, RCCG Continental Overseer, Pastor Johnson Odesola, described the donation as a reflection of Pastor Adeboye’s steadfast love for humanity and enduring commitment to the well-being of the Ekiti people.
“This is not just philanthropy. It is a mission grounded in faith, compassion, and a desire to uplift communities,” Pastor Odesola stated.
The commissioning of the Enoch and Folu Adeboye Dialysis Centre is widely seen as a major milestone in the ongoing effort to enhance healthcare access in Ekiti State and serves as a beacon of effective partnership between religious institutions and government in addressing urgent public health needs.
