Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Pantami, has called on voters in Gombe State to prioritize proven performance over campaign rhetoric as political activities ahead of the 2027 governorship race gather momentum.
Pantami, who is widely reported to be eyeing the governorship seat, stated that the era of vague promises should give way to accountability. He urged residents to scrutinize the records of all aspirants seeking to lead the state.
“This is not the time for empty promises. It is a time to ask questions and demand results,” he said while addressing supporters.
The former minister challenged voters to insist on verifiable evidence of projects executed and contributions made by aspirants during their previous stints in public office. Highlighting his own record, Pantami claimed he facilitated over 241 development projects and secured federal employment opportunities for more than 700 indigenes of the state during his time in government.
While these figures have not been independently verified, Pantami maintained that his track record in public service, particularly during his tenure overseeing Nigeria’s digital economy drive, positions him as a credible contender. He further urged the electorate to compare candidates based on measurable impact rather than political sentiment.
Political observers note that Pantami’s remarks reflect an early attempt to frame the 2027 contest around performance and accountability in what is expected to be a competitive race in Gombe State.
