A fire outbreak on Monday at the Abule Egba pipeline corridor in Lagos caused panic among residents and commuters before emergency responders brought the situation under control.

The incident occurred at the Katangowa axis of the pipeline corridor when foams stored at the facility caught fire, sending thick smoke and flames into the air and raising fears of a possible explosion in the densely populated area.

Eyewitnesses said the fire sparked confusion as residents and passers-by hurried away from the scene to avoid danger. Some individuals attempted to contain the blaze with available materials before the arrival of firefighters.

Officials of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service later responded to the incident and successfully contained the fire, preventing it from spreading to nearby buildings and critical infrastructure.

No casualties were recorded in the incident, according to emergency officials.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, and investigations are expected to establish how the materials ignited.

Authorities have advised residents to remain vigilant and avoid activities around pipeline corridors, warning that such locations pose serious safety risks.

They also urged members of the public to promptly report any suspicious activity or hazards around pipeline facilities to prevent similar incidents.
