Nigerian singer Peter Okoye has publicly addressed the long-running rift with his twin brother, Paul Okoye, alleging that the widely publicised reunion of their former music group, P-Square, was never a genuine musical reconciliation.
In a video shared online, Peter said he had decided to speak out after growing weary of being portrayed as the brother responsible for the prolonged dispute.
According to him, Paul had repeatedly made remarks directed at him over the years, prompting his decision to respond publicly and present his own account of events.
Peter maintained that his primary objective had always been to restore their relationship as brothers rather than revive P-Square as a performing group.
He alleged that the reconciliation process began after Paul apologised to his wife, Lola, before he later visited his brother’s residence, where they embraced in a moment that was captured on video and widely interpreted by fans as the return of the celebrated music duo.
The singer, however, claimed that the impression of a full P-Square reunion was misleading, alleging that Paul subsequently informed him that his priority was maintaining peace between them rather than resuming the group’s musical partnership.
Peter also rejected suggestions that he had attempted to undermine his twin brother’s career, challenging anyone to produce evidence of him publicly attacking Paul, their elder brother, Jude, or any member of Paul’s family.
He further claimed that he wrote and produced about 99 per cent of P-Square’s songs, arguing that his contribution to the group’s success had been overlooked despite allegations made against him.
Peter said he was no longer willing to remain silent about the issues surrounding the family’s long-running dispute and indicated that he would continue to share his account of the events that led to the breakdown of their relationship.
