Oyo 2027: Alli debunks disqualification rumours

19 May 2026

The Campaign Organisation of Senator Sharafadeen Alli has dismissed viral reports claiming that the leading governorship aspirant has been disqualified ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election scheduled for Thursday, May 21.

Describing the reports as false and malicious, the organisation stated that the rumours are the handiwork of political detractors and desperate opponents who are deeply unsettled by Senator Alli’s formidable political profile, expanding acceptability, and overwhelming support across the state.

A statement issued on Tuesday in Ibadan by the aspirant’s media office categorically affirmed that Senator Alli has been fully cleared and remains legally qualified to participate in the party’s governorship primaries.

The statement further noted that the lawmaker remains the leading consensus aspirant in the race, backed by a massive wave of support from party leaders, stakeholders, youth groups, women, and grassroots members across the 33 local government areas of Oyo State.

According to the campaign office, no amount of propaganda, misinformation, or sponsored fake news can diminish the popularity and political strength of the aspirant as the crucial exercise approaches.

“The viral story alleging the disqualification of Senator Sharafadeen Alli is entirely false, baseless, and should be completely disregarded by all party faithful and members of the public. The fear of Senator Alli’s strong political profile and widespread acceptance within the APC is responsible for the fake information being circulated by desperate elements who are afraid of his growing momentum,” the statement read.

The campaign organisation expressed firm confidence that Senator Alli will emerge victorious at the primaries and successfully fly the APC flag in the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State.

It also voiced optimism that, by the grace of God and with the continuous backing of the electorate, the lawmaker will secure ultimate victory at the general election.

Consequently, the organization urged APC members across the state to remain calm, focused, and united while ignoring divisive rumours.

It further called on delegates and party faithful to turn out in large numbers on Thursday to either affirm Senator Alli as the consensus candidate or participate peacefully in the direct primary process.
