The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2026 Osun State election, Bola Oyebamiji, has promised to recall approximately 2,000 teachers and health workers disengaged by the state government in 2022 if he is elected governor.
Oyebamiji made this pledge following a meeting with over 1,500 teachers and 515 health workers affected by the disengagement, describing their current situation as both unfortunate and unjust.
He noted that these workers, who previously served the state with diligence, have been unemployed for nearly three years, leaving them without salaries, arrears, or job security.
Oyebamiji argued that no responsible government should abandon qualified professionals who are eager to serve, emphasizing that such actions undermine trust in public service and damage morale within the critical sectors of education and healthcare.
The candidate assured the affected professionals that his administration would address their concerns with fairness, compassion, and sincerity.
He committed to ensuring their return to the workforce, settling all outstanding arrears, and restoring dignity to the public service.
Oyebamiji concluded by stating that Osun State requires leadership that views workers as essential partners in development, vowing to restore confidence in governance and rebuild the relationship between the government and public servants.
