The Otan-Ayegbaju Progressive Union (OAPU) in Osun State has called on the newly promoted Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG), Funsho Adegboye, to maintain the high standards of professionalism that earned him his recent advancement.
The OAPU President, Aare GH Adetunji Mosebolatan, issued a congratulatory message following the Police Service Commission’s (PSC) approval of Adegboye’s promotion from Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) to DIG.
The decision was ratified during the commission’s third plenary meeting on Thursday, chaired by retired DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu.
The session also saw the promotion of two AIGs and over 26,000 inspectors.
In a statement released by the National PRO, Lateef Dada, the union emphasized that Adegboye’s elevation is a testament to his dedicated service.
OAPU particularly noted the officer’s consistent support in securing the Otan-Ayegbaju community whenever his assistance was sought.
“On behalf of the people of Otan-Ayegbaju at home and abroad, including the Owa of Otan-Ayegbaju, Oba Lukman Ojo-Fadipe, we congratulate our son, Funsho Adegboye,” Mosebolatan stated.
The community expressed confidence that the promotion was well-merited, noting that such advancements within the force are typically reflections of an officer’s integrity and skill.
Mosebolatan urged the new DIG to justify the trust of the PSC by continuing to enhance national security.
“We pray for divine guidance in his new role, as we believe he will strive to combat insecurity in alignment with the ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda of President Bola Tinubu,” the statement concluded.
