Lawmakers in the Osun State House of Assembly have debunked reports alleging that 18 of its members are planning to defect from the Accord Party.

Recall that there are media reports suggesting that internal instability and leadership litigation within Accord are forcing lawmakers to reconsider their membership of Accord.

The situation was further compounded when the  Lawmaker representing Iwo State Constituency, Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Adesina Rabiu resigned membership of the party on Monday and later withdrew his resignation.

Reacting, the Chief Press Secretary to the Psun State Speaker, Olamide Tiamiyu described the claims as inaccurate and riddled with misinformation.

The Speaker dismissed the allegations concerning the defection of the lawmakers from 15 constituencies, including Olorunda, Ifelodun, Ifedayo, Ila, Ife South, Ife East, Aiyedire, Olaoluwa, Ayedaade, Ilesa East, Osogbo, Ede South, Orolu/Irepodun, Ife Central, and Egbedore.

Addressing concerns over party leadership, the Speaker noted that recent updates from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), specifically the publication of candidates for the upcoming gubernatorial election have resolved any perceived uncertainty.

The Assembly further reaffirmed its unity under the leadership of Speaker Adewale Egbedun, urging the public to disregard rumors of dissatisfaction or structural collapse within the party.
