6 Feb 2026

The Association of Market Women in Osun State under the aegis of Osun Iyalojas on Thursday endorsed the candidacy of the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji popularly called AMBO.

The leadership of the market women, drawn from across the 30 local governments in the state declared Adeleke’s government as a failure in all the sectors of the economy particularly in commerce, investment and industry.

The Osun Iyalojas affirmed readiness to mobilize massively for the victory of Oyebamiji in the August 8th, 2026 governorship election in the state.

This is even as Oyebamiji reaffirmed his commitment to turnaround the socio-economic fortunes of the state when elected the governor.

Speaking during a meeting with Oyebamiji, held at the ileri-Oluwa Campaign Office, Osogbo, Osun State Iyaloja General, Alhaja Awawu Asindemade, disclosed the readiness of all the market women in the state to vote massively for the victory of Oyebamiji come August 8th governorship election.

Alhaja Asindemade who doubles as the Iyalode of Osogboland bemoaned Adeleke’s government for running an artistocratic government of exclusivity that had paralyzed critical sectors of the economy in the state.

The Iyaloja-General expressed displeasure over the negligence of critical sectors particularly commerce, industry and investment by the current government and attributed the failure of the Adeleke government to attract a single investment to its palpable ineptitude,  maladroitness and malfeasance.

According to the Iyaloja General, the Adeleke government has failed the citizens of the state as seen in the palpable failures recorded since assumption of office, hence the need to send it packing and elect a visionary governor come August 8th, 2026  election.

Alhaja Asindemade assured that the market women across the nooks and crannies of the state were firm, resolute, ready and prepared to ensure the victory of Oyebamiji who has demonstrated capacity, competence, capability and wherewithal to take Osun State to a greater height.

She urged the market women to rally round Oyebamiji and begin door-to-door mobilization for his victory in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.

In her address: “We are here today to declare our unalloyed solidarity and unflinching support for the emergence of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji AMBO, the man who has demonstrated the capacity, competence and charisma to lead our state to a greater height.

“As a non-governmental organization, we have been resolute in our decision to work with any government in power ever since the military administration of Governor Anthony Udofia who in his magnanimity gave due recognition and breathed life into the existence of Association of Market Women in Osun State.

“We are known for sincerity and honesty and there was no government that we didn’t work with except the current government of Senator Ademola Adeleke who deliberately chased us away for reasons not unconnected with victimisation.

“We are not politicians but members of a very vibrant and formidable association within the populace. Before Adeleke’s government, we had been working with the past governments, be it, civilian or military, but what we experienced under Adeleke’s government was beyond what anyone could account for.

“Our members were denied their rights, harassed and ridiculed to the extent that all the utility vehicles given to our offices by his predecessor were forcefully taken away from us by the Adeleke government for no just cause.

“No fewer than 34 vehicles were withdrawn from all the leaders of the association across the 30 Local Government Areas in the State while the three vehicles attached to my office as the Iyaloja General of the state were withdrawn simply because we honoured an invite and attended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s programme.

“Our members were subjected to ridicule, denigration and untoward hardship by the current government and today, we have been vindicated by its palpable failure and socio-economic woes in the areas of commerce, investment and industry.

“The citizens were witnesses of all these particularly the aristocracy that characterised the current government.

“However, while we remain resolute to give our support to quality and genuine leadership, we are declaring our support to Oyebamiji’s candidacy in the attestation to our resolve to elect a visionary leader as he has shown the leadership in the past and we are optimistic that he is going to take our state to promised land when elected the state governor on August 8th, 2026”, Asindemade assured.

In his short remarks, Oyebamiji lauded the market women for their unwavering commitment and dedication to the growth and development of the state, assuring them of his plan to run all inclusive, participatory, masses-focused, women-centred, youth-friendly and development-focused government.

AMBO urged the Iyalojas to remain firm in their resolve to support him, assuring them of his determination to be a ‘governor for all’.

In his words: “Let’s remain resolute. My contest is divine. You have just started reaping the fruits of your labour. We should be focused, steady and consistent.”

“You have chosen a right path and there is no cause for alarm. By the grace of God, anytime, anyday, the governorship election is held, I am going to emerge victorious. No one can intimidate you. We are not going to fight anybody but if they tamper with you, we will let them know that it is not going to be business as usual. Let’s remain focused, victory is ours. You are our mothers and God in His infinite mercy will not forsake us. We shall be victorious in the forthcoming gubernatorial election”, Oyebamiji assured.
