The youth wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun West Senatorial District has endorsed the party’s leading aspirant, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, as its preferred candidate for the 2026 gubernatorial election.
The youths, numbering in their hundreds, were mobilised from the ten local government areas of the district and converged in Iwo on Wednesday to publicly declare their support ahead of the APC governorship primary scheduled for December 13.
Speaking at the event, Ajani Gafar Ayodeji from Ede North Local Government said the youth wing decided to back Oyebamiji because he is widely accepted across the party and has the capacity to secure victory in the 2026 poll.
Ayodeji urged party members to remain united and resist financial inducements ahead of the primary election, stressing that the future of Osun State should not be compromised.
“We are here today because Osun West youths have come together to display our support for Asiwaju Munirudeen Oyebamiji (AMBO) as our 2026 governorship aspirant under the APC platform. By God’s grace, he will emerge as our next governor on August 8, 2026,” he said.
“Our Progressive Party has rules and guidelines, and we are optimistic because Oyebamiji possesses all the qualities of a credible candidate. Our message to the party leadership is clear — we already have our preferred aspirant, and that is Bola Oyebamiji.
“My message to the youth ahead of the primary is that we should not trade our future for monetary gain. This is our time to secure the future of Osun State by supporting the right candidate.”
Also speaking, Comrade Imran Adekunle, the Osun West Senatorial Youth Leader of the APC, appealed to the party’s leadership to zone the governorship ticket to the district.
“We have been appealing to our leaders to zone the ticket to Osun West Senatorial District. As of today, we are fully prepared for the election. I urge our youths to remain united and ensure Osun West produces the next governor in 2026,” he added.
