The election bid of the All Progressives Congress (APC) standard-bearer in Osun State has received a significant boost as the State Chapter of the National Forum of Former Legislators declared total unity ahead of the August 8 gubernatorial election.
Meeting at Alubarika House in Osogbo, nearly sixty former lawmakers spanning from the 1999 to 2023 sets gathered to reconcile grievances and cement the cracks that followed the emergence of the party’s candidate.
National Secretary of the APC, Dr. Ajibola, informed journalists after the session that the primary objective was to harmonize the influence of former state and national lawmakers to return Osun to the Progressive fold.
He asserted that the house is no longer divided, describing the attendees as veteran grassroots mobilizers who have successfully navigated elections for decades.
“No more wrangling or friction,” Dr. Ajibola stated, expressing absolute confidence that victory is assured for the party in the upcoming August poll.
Echoing this sentiment, prominent figures including Professor Mojeed Alabi and Hon. Yinka Ajayi emphasized that the forum served as a platform to restrategize and restructure the party’s machinery.
The presence of three former Speakers and several Senators underscored the caliber of the assembly, which leaders described as a formidable front to reclaim power.
Beyond the immediate task of the August 2026 election, the forum also pledged to begin early mobilization for the 2027 presidential re-election of President Bola Tinubu, aiming for what they described as back-to-back triumphs.
