The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended local government council executives for donating 300 motorcycles to security agencies across the state.
This was contained in a statement signed by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, who praised the Hon. Samuel Idowu Abiodun-led Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) in Osun for prioritising the safety of lives and property.
According to the statement, each of the 30 local government areas procured 10 motorcycles to be distributed among security agencies, including the police, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), vigilante groups, hunters, and other community security outfits.
“The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has thumbed up the state chapter of Honourable Samuel Idowu Abiodun-led Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) for prioritising the security of lives and property of the people of the state by complementing the efforts of other levels of government to enhance maximum security in all ramifications in the state.
“The already concluded plan of the state ALGON to donate and distribute 300 newly-purchased security motorcycles to the security agencies in the state is highly commendable and the gesture is a complete departure from what operated in the state between November 22, 2022 and February 10th, 2025 when the illegal and purported Peoples Democratic Party’s local government council chairmen were occupying the political theatre of the grassroots government in the state.
“The information that each of the local government council areas had already purchased 10 security motorcycles out of which three would be donated to the police in each local government; two for the DSS; two for the Nigerian Civil Defence and Security Corps; one for the vigilante group; one for the hunters; one for local/community security in every local government council area of the state, was dazzling and highly commendable and it makes a statement that the APC council executives are indeed in the public office to serve.”
The party described the initiative as a commendable effort to complement existing security structures and enhance crime prevention at the grassroots level.
The party also used the opportunity to criticise the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, questioning the use of security votes and alleging lapses in addressing security challenges in the state.
“We congratulate the good people of the state that the lost glory of the 34-year-old state which has been unfortunate to be governed by a reactionary set of opportunists as it is currently being witnessed in the state is now blessed with a new lease of life.
“The question being asked in hushed tones in the state at public places by the concerned citizens is what has Governor Ademola Adeleke being doing with his humongous statutory cumulatively security votes amounting to billions of naira for close to four years that has made him to forget the important issue of complementing the efforts of both formal and informal security services to fight crimes in the state?
“There’s no way that a governor whose priority is wining, dining, travelling and dancing could have the time to think about the effective security of the governed as long as the constant rolling in of the monthly handouts from the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Federal Government with which the embattled governor has been constructing substandard flyovers, is constantly assured.
“We are assuring all and sundry that the advent of the administration of our governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji AMBO, through the forthcoming 15th governorship election, would ensure and prioritise the even development of the state.”
