Osun ALGON suspends recall of disengaged teachers, health workers

18 Jan 2026

The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Osun State Chapter, has announced the temporary suspension of the reabsorption process for primary school teachers and health workers previously disengaged by the state government.

In a statement issued by the State ALGON Chairman, Hon. Idowu Samuel Abiodun, the association directed all 30 Local Government Areas and the Ife-East Area Office to place the recall process on hold pending further directives from the council leadership.

The affected workers were originally employed during the tenure of former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola but were relieved of their duties by the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke upon his assumption of office in 2022.

Prior to this suspension, the Council Chairmen and Councillors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had resolved to recall the over 1,500 teachers and nearly 3,000 health workers.

The move was described as an effort to strengthen the quality of education and healthcare service delivery across the state.

Hon. Abiodun, who also serves as the Chairman of Ifedayo Local Government, noted that the decision to pause the exercise is temporary.

He assured that an update regarding the resumption of the recall process would be made public as soon as possible to ensure the workers can return to contributing to the state’s service sectors.
