The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate for Osun State in 2026, Rt. Hon. Folasayo Salaam, has called on supporters to refrain from engaging in conversations that insult and abuse political opponents.

In a press issued on yesterday, Salaam expressed appreciation to members of his political movement, particularly supporters at home and those actively mobilising across social media platforms such as Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and WhatsApp.

According to him, “Politics is, at its core, a contest of ideas, not a battlefield of insults. As we advocate progress and mobilize for meaningful change, let us conduct ourselves in the true spirit of the Omoluabi, the enduring value system of Osun State that upholds dignity, integrity, respect, and honour.

“I wish to make a special appeal to our supporters on social media, please refrain from engaging in conversations that insult, abuse, or demean our opponents.

“We can prosecute our campaign with passion without descending into recklessness. We can offer constructive criticism without demeaning others. We can win arguments and persuade minds without damaging the bonds that unite us as a people.

“Ultimately, we are all children of the same soil, proud indigenes of Osun State. Our shared heritage, common challenges, and collective aspirations far outweigh any differences that may exist among us.

“Let us, therefore, practice politics with maturity, civility, and pride, and in doing so, demonstrate to Nigeria that leadership from Osun can be anchored on respect, unity, and purpose rather than hostility and division.

“And I am confident that together, we will change the narrative without losing our values in the process,” he said.
