The Director-General of the All Supremes Congress (APC) Gubernatorial Campaign Council in Osun State, Rt. Hon. Oluwole Oke, has debunked rumors making the rounds that former APC National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, and his political allies are planning to defect to the ruling Accord Party ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
Oke gave this clarification in a strongly worded statement on Sunday, layout the political stance of the APC leadership in the Ife-Ijesa zone and warning political jobbers to stop using the name of the elder statesman for unauthorized negotiations.
According to the Campaign Director-General, Senator Omisore remains the indisputable national leader of the party in the Ife-Ijesa axis and is fully committed to securing a victory for the APC in the upcoming gubernatorial poll.
“Senator Iyiola Christopher Omisore is undoubtedly our National Leader in Ife-Ijesa Land. We have come a long way. For those alleged to be using his name to negotiate with the incumbent Government of Osun State for one gain or the other, you are on your own. Senator Iyiola Omisore will not defect from the APC, neither would he work against the APC in the forthcoming coming gubernatorial election,” Oke stated.
Dismissing speculations about Omisore’s whereabouts amid the heightened pre-election activities in the state, Oke revealed that the former Deputy Governor is currently outside the country on an official assignment.
“My Egbon (elder brother) is currently at the World Bank in Washington, D.C., for serious business engagements,” Oke added.
The APC campaign chief also dismissed rumors concerning other high-profile party stalwarts in the zone, stating explicitly that former federal lawmaker, Hon. Israel Famurewa, and a former commissioner in the state, Dr. Bode Henry Olaonipekun, have no intentions of leaving the party.
Addressing the status of other notable political actors under Omisore’s leadership who appear to have taken a back seat in recent times, including Barrister Ojo Williams, Oke described their current political stance as a temporary break.
“As for Barrister Ojo Williams and others, they are on sabbatical leave. When they return, we will let you know,” Oke said.
The statement comes at a time of intense political posturing and alignment changes in Osun State, with both the APC and the ruling PDP stepping up their grassroots mobilization and trying to consolidate their strongholds ahead of the August 15, 2026 showdown.
