Governor Ademola Adeleke is set to inaugurate a 52-member campaign council as part of preparations for the Aug. 15, 2026, governorship election in Osun State.
The body, known as the Imole Campaign Council 2026, is designed to serve as the central strategy and coordination platform for the governor’s re-election bid, overseeing campaign planning, mobilisation, and messaging.
According to details released ahead of the inauguration, the council will be chaired by Prof. Wale Ladipo, while Senate Minority Leader Sen. Kamorudeen Oyewumi will serve as Director General. The Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, is to act as Deputy Director General, with Barrister Pelumi Olajengbesi named spokesperson.
The structure also includes multiple committees aimed at strengthening coordination across federal constituencies, local governments, and wards, reflecting a layered campaign strategy.
At the constituency level, dedicated campaign committees will be established across the nine federal constituencies, while similar structures will operate in all 30 local governments and 332 wards to drive grassroots engagement.
The council is expected to function as the highest decision-making body for the campaign, ensuring cohesion, discipline, and alignment across all levels of operation.
Political observers say the move signals an early and organised approach to the election, with emphasis on structure, message control, and voter mobilisation.
The inauguration is expected to mark the beginning of intensified political activity in the state as the election draws closer.
