Following the heavy rainstorm that wreaked havoc in Osogbo last week, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the upcoming Osun State election, Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), announced full scholarships up to the university level on Sunday for the four children of a victim of the natural disaster.
Oyebamiji also ordered the immediate opening of a special bank account for the children, through which he will provide regular financial support to fund their education from primary school through the university level.
Members of the deceased’s family praised Oyebamiji’s philanthropic gesture, praying for divine favor and his victory in the next governorship election.
Oyebamiji made the declaration during a visit to the family of the late Jemilat Ganiyu, who died during the devastating storm. The children set to benefit from the sponsorship include Tijani Faruk (JSS 2), Tijani Mariam (SS 2), Tijani Fatimah (SS 3), and Tijani Haliah (Primary 6).
In a brief address, Oyebamiji expressed deep grief over the circumstances of the tragedy, noting that while death remains inevitable for every mortal, the loss was profoundly sudden.
He condoled with the family, particularly the deceased’s parents, and prayed that Almighty Allah would grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Oyebamiji also visited a mother and daughter who sustained injuries during the storm and are currently receiving treatment at the Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.
During the visit, he prayed for the quick recovery of all patients and made a generous donation to mark the occasion.
He also instructed his aides to gather data on a patient in critical condition after the parents approached him for assistance.
