The Ondo State Government has commended operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, alongside other security agencies, for the successful rescue of kidnapped victims in Akure South Local Government Area.

The government, under the leadership of Gov. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, also praised the Corps Commander of Amotekun, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, for coordinating the operations.

The commendation followed overnight operations that led to the rescue of five victims in two separate incidents at Oke Ijebu and along the Oda–Akure axis.

According to the report, a 45-year-old man and his 15-year-old son, who were abducted at the Pelebe area along Oda Road, were rescued by the Rapid Response Squad of the corps after an encounter with the kidnappers in the early hours of the day.

Similarly, three health workers who were earlier abducted regained their freedom through the efforts of security operatives and are currently receiving medical attention.

The government also commended other security agencies for their collaboration, noting that the synergy contributed significantly to the success of the operations.

It further appreciated residents of the state for their vigilance and prompt intelligence sharing, which helped security agencies respond swiftly.

The government reassured residents of its commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.

Citizens were urged to continue supporting security agencies with credible and timely information, stressing that collective responsibility remains key to sustaining peace and security.

The statement was signed by Hon. Idowu Ajanaku, Commissioner for Information and Orientation, on March 28, 2026.
