The Ondo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress has suspended its planned ward, local government, and state congresses following a directive from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) urging political parties to maintain the status quo.
This was contained a statement issued on Wednesday by the State Chairman, Wole Ademoyegun.
According to Wole, the suspension of the congress tskes immediate effect.
Ademoyegun explained that the move was necessary to ensure full compliance with INEC’s instruction pending the resolution of ongoing issues.
He noted that the party remained committed to respecting the electoral body and upholding due process in all its activities.
He urged members and stakeholders to stay calm, united and disciplined, warning against actions capable of breaching INEC’s directive or disrupting peace.
The party also cautioned against unauthorised gatherings, adding that security agencies had been notified to forestall any breakdown of order.
The development comes amid internal disputes within the party and a recent decision by INEC to delist some national figures, as the ADC insists it will still participate in the 2027 general elections.
