Olubadan suspends installation of Chiefs, District heads over monarch’s death

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba (Dr.) Rashidi Ladoja Aruna I, has postponed the installation ceremony of Mogajis and Baales earlier scheduled for Monday, June 15, 2026 over demise of Monarch.

The postponement followed the demise of Oba Dada John Isioye, who passed away on Friday, June 12, 2026.

In a statement signed from the Olubadan Palace over weekend said the decision was taken as a mark of honour and respect for the late monarch.

According to statement, “Following the sad and shocking demise of His Royal Majesty, Oba Dada John Isioye, which occurred on Friday, 12th June 2026, His Imperial Majesty, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba (Dr.) Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, FNSE, Aruna I, has directed that the installation ceremony for Mogajis and Baales earlier scheduled for Monday, 15th June 2026, be postponed for one week as a mark of honour and respect for the late monarch.

“Consequently, the installation ceremony has been rescheduled to hold on Monday, 22nd June 2026, at the same venue and time.

“We sincerely regret any inconvenience this postponement may cause and appreciate your understanding.” It added.
